Leaving a job in Italy requires attention to the procedure, employment end date and contractual conditions. Before submitting your resignation, check the notice period and any potential effects on unemployment benefits.
Online submission through our patronato
Our patronato is authorised to submit online resignations. You can book an appointment for us to check your employment details, complete the form and submit the notification.
You can also access the government service independently using SPID or CIE. When our authorised operator submits the form on your behalf, you do not need to share your personal passwords. A submitted resignation can be withdrawn within seven days. Official Ministry of Labour procedure.
Documents to prepare
Please bring:
- identification and your Italian tax code;
- employment contract or appointment letter, including amendments;
- your latest payslip;
- your employer’s details, including tax code and email or certified email address;
- your intended employment end date;
- any relevant correspondence already exchanged with your employer.
These documents support the preliminary assessment. They are not all mandatory attachments to the online form.
Notice periods and special cases
We review the applicable collective agreement, employment grade and length of service to check the relevant notice period. The effective resignation date entered on the form must be distinguished from the final day of employment.

Changes to be aware of
Since 2025, specific rules apply to certain prolonged, unjustified absences, known as dimissioni per fatti concludenti. Simply stopping attendance at work can therefore have different consequences from formally submitting a resignation. Ministry of Labour — Circular 6/2025.
